Vocoder uses incoming audio as the modulator and held MIDI notes to set the carrier pitch. It turns speech or singing into pitched vocal textures, with twelve clean and psychedelic starting presets.

What it does
- Shape a 24-band spectral envelope with separate attack and release controls.
- Blend carrier brightness and consonant passage to balance tone with intelligibility.
- Explore spectral freeze, formant movement and presets such as Neon Choir and Frozen Spectrum.
- Perform with pitch bend, sustain, modulation wheel, pressure and CC74.
Using the plugin
In Ableton Live, place Vocoder on a MIDI track and route the vocal track into its VST3 sidechain. Play or draw MIDI notes while the recording runs. The incoming vocal supplies the articulation; MIDI supplies the carrier pitch.
Project status
Windows VST3 development project. The vocoded signal needs both incoming audio and carrier notes.
